A Festive Celebration
Date:
11 December 2015
In its Festive Celebration concert, the NSO Brass, Chorus & Orchestra presented festive carol favourites under a starlit sky last Friday, 11 December at Emirates Palace Hotel’s Palace Terrace, with guest artists Dave LeMieux and More Than Music, all the way from the US. The audience arrived in a festive mood and sang along, using their mobile phone lights. Also in attendance were the Algerian Ambassador to the UAE, HE Mr Salah Attia, the Mexican Ambassador to the UAE, HE Mr Francisco J.A. Escobar, and the Dutch Ambassador to the UAE, HE Mr Frank J.M. Mollen.
NSO Brass's Christmas Carols featured a popular jazz arrangement by Stan Kenton. The audience was later treated to Musical Director Ed Keeley's orchestral arrangements of Christmas classics by the NSO Orchestra, followed by a stirring gospel-Memphis-style Christmas suite by Dave LeMieux and his More Than Music ensemble of musicians and singers. The evening was rounded off with a enthusiastic rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus!
